About the Mercer Island Farmers Market

Promoting Community and Sustainability

The Mercer Island Farmers Market connects growers, consumers, and the Island business community to create a valuable, sustainable community asset. The benefits resonate beyond our local community by contributing to sustainability of our region’s agricultural production.

Moving Toward a Sustainable Mercer Island
It began with a big idea—sustainability within our Island community and beyond. In 2006, IslandVision, a non-profit group of Mercer Island residents, gathered to discuss bringing a more sustainable lifestyle to the Island, planting the seed for the farmers market. The market idea caught on and began attracting an ever-expanding circle of volunteers.

Due to the passion, the partnership, and the commitment of IslandVision and the FarmCity Alliance, on August 10, 2008, the Mercer Island Farmers Market opened, offering  a convenient way for residents to purchase and enjoy quality, locally grown food.

Our Organization
FarmCity Alliance is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization dedicated to preserving farm land and farming in Western Washington, along with sharing knowledge with the public, particularly city dwellers, about the important role the agricultural industry plays in our lives.
